ABOUT CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL'S COUNSELING OFFICE

Welcome to Central High School's Counseling Department's website! We hope that this website will serve as an extension of the Counseling Office so that we may provide students, parents, and staff with the most up-to-date and helpful information in order to help our students have access to all available opportunities. Please explore the site to learn more about the role of the school counselor and how we can help, as well as important dates, deadlines, information, and other resources.

Central High School's Counseling Department aims to provide a comprehensive counseling program which addresses the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.

​

Our Counseling Department is staffed by professional school counselors whose primary goal is to serve as advocates for the students in consultation with parents, teachers, and administrators so that they may graduate ready to take on the challenges of life after high school as responsible citizens and productive members of society.

Ms. Anita Scruggs is the Director of Guidance. She serves as the school's testing coordinator and serves students 9-12 with the last names beginning with M-Z.

Mrs. Amber Moore is a School Counselor who serves students 9-12 with the last names beginning with A-L.

Mrs. Pam Aderhold is the Registrar for the Counseling Office.

The vision of the comprehensive School Counseling program at Central High School is for every student to possess the academic, career, and social/emotional skills necessary to be successful. Our students realize their full potential and self-worth. They are leaders, problem solvers, and productive citizens. Our students are resilient when faced with challenges or adversity. Central High School students make a positive impact on the lives of others and their community.

Our Mission

The mission of the School Counseling program at Central High School is to provide all students with an excellent comprehensive school counseling program that helps all students reach their maximum potential as life-long learners and productive members of their community. This program delivers services through a tiered system to support the academic achievement, career development, and social-emotional growth of each student.

Belief Statement

The Central High School Counselors believe:

  • Every student has dignity & worth

  • All students can achieve academic, social & emotional, & career success when given appropriate time, support, & interventions as well as rigorous & relevant instruction

  • A comprehensive developmental school counseling program is an integral part of a student's education

  • The role of a school counselor includes collaboration with teachers, parents, administrators, & other stakeholders in order to advocate and provide services for students

  • School counselors will use data to design, implement, evaluate, & continuously improve the comprehensive school counseling program

  • School counselors will abide by the American School Counseling Association Code of Ethics

  • School counselors will participate in ongoing professional development to improve skills & knowledge
