DECEMBER SCHOLARSHIPS
Tennessee Concrete Association High School Essay Contest
1st Place ($250), 2nd Place ($100), 3rd Place ($50) | Deadline: December 5, 2017 | 3 Awards
Essay Contest Rules:
1. Open to all high school students ages 16-18 at the beginning of the school term.
2. Essay must be typed, double-spaced and not exceed 600 words.
3. Submit essay and entry form at www.tnconcrete.org.
4. Essays will be judged on content and writing ability (grammar, style, clarity, etc.). Remember, this is an essay/story.
5. Winning essay authors will be asked to submit a head shot photo to go along with their essay in the Tennessee Concrete magazine.

Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program
$2,500 | Deadline: December 7, 2018 | 800 Awards
Applicants must:

Have a demonstrated commitment to community service, outstanding qualities in character, integrity and leadership

Be enrolled as a high school senior

Reside in a community served by Comcast

Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2019-2020 academic year

Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)

Science Ambassador Scholarship

1. You must be a high school senior or an undergraduate student.

3. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Illustrators of the Future Scholarship

To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must:
1. Be new or amateur artists who have not been professionally published and paid for more than three blank-and-white story illustrations, or more than one process-color painting or have your work broadly featured to the general public through the media.

BadCredit.org Wealth Wise Scholarship
The BadCredit.org Wealth Wise Scholarship is open to US undergraduate and graduate students seeking a career in the finance industry.
The scholarship amount is $1,000 and will be awarded based on academic merit and submission of a short essay to be titled How the US Credit Scoring System Can Be Improved.

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Minimum GPA of 3.5

Major of study must support a career in the finance industry (e.g., finance, business, accounting, mathematics, management, and other related majors)

Must be a US resident

Must send in an official transcript

Must be a current or future college student (e.g., high school senior)

Scholarship must go to tuition purposes (will be paid directly to the university/college)

Complete an essay for submission (see essay guidelines below)

Essay Guidelines:
Please adhere to the essay guidelines below:

Essay Topic/Title: How the US Credit Scoring System Can Be Improved. This essay will explore current issues in today’s credit landscape and various ways to offset the negative implications that affect many Americans’ ability to access capital.

The essay should be 500-900 words.

Any resources should be carefully noted and cited appropriately using the MLA format.

Any plagiarism or fabrication will disqualify the applicant from award disbursement.

The essay should be written in 12-point font, Times New Roman, double-spaced, 1-inch margins.
