Dual Enrollment
Dual enrollment courses count toward high school graduation requirements as well as college requirements. Students should understand that these courses have college-level work and expectations and are much more rigorous than traditional high school courses. Because of the difficulty of these courses, students should be on track to graduate and be highly motivated. There are additional registration requirements listed below:

Students must be in their junior or senior year, have a gpa of 3.0 and an attendance rate of 95% in the previous semester.

Students must have a subscore of a 19 (or a qualifying AccuPlacer score) on the subject area subscore of the ACT.

Dual enrollment courses do have additional costs and fees. Most of all of these may be covered by the Dual Enrollment Lottery Grant for those that qualify.

In the event a student drops a dual enrollment class, they should notify their counselor immediately.
​
Students will not receive additional rigor points on top of their average for dual enrollment courses. Teachers may, however, add additional points to the student's average to ensure they are awarded the same letter grade at both the high school and college level, as they have differing grading scales.

Current Seniors are awarded .025 points on top of their overall grade point average for each semester of dual enrollment courses taken. Students in grades 11 and below should refer to the new grading policy regarding dual enrollment courses.

Advanced Placement
Advanced Placement courses are college-level courses with high rigor and expectations. Because of the difficulty of these courses, students should be on track to graduate and be highly motivated. Students may receive college credit for these courses if they make a qualifying score on the AP Exam at the end of the school year. There are additional requirements listed below:

Current sophomores, juniors, and seniors may take Advanced Placement courses. They must have a gpa of 3.0 and an attendance rate of 95% in the previous semester.

Students are awarded 5 percentage points on top of their average at each nine weeks and the semester exam as long as they take the exam at the end of the year. Current seniors will also earn .025 points on top of their overall gpa for each semester they pass in an Advanced Placement course. Students in grades 11 and below should refer to the new grading policy for more information on Advanced Placement courses.

Advanced Placement courses are free of charge. Fee waivers are available for those that qualify. Ask your counselor if you have questions or concerns.
