Even though you may change your mind several times throughout high school and beyond, it is important to go ahead and get an idea of a career path you might enjoy and in which you may find success. The links above will connect you to career assessments and other resources to give you a starting point for your research. Thinking about a career that interests you is really the first step in researching potential colleges because not all colleges offer the same academic majors. 

Tennessee Reconnect

Tennessee Reconnect is an initiative to help more of our state’s adults enter higher education to gain new skills, advance in the workplace, and fulfill lifelong dreams of completing a degree or credential.

Who do they serve?

WIOA Youth Program serves those between 18-24 years of age that meet the eligibility income guidelines and possess one or more of the following barriers to employment:

  • Pregnant or parent

  • Homeless

  • Foster care (or aged out)

  • Ex-offender

  • Disability

  • Basic skills deficit in reading and/or mathematics

  • English language learner

  • Unemployment/lack of meaningful employment

Services Provided:

  • Paid and Unpaid Work Experiences

  • Occupational Skills Training

  • Supportive Services

  • Mentoring and/or Tutoring

  • Financial Literacy

  • Career Counseling and Planning

  • Educational Services

  • Leadership Development

You may be eligible to participate in training programs that lead to recognized credentials for in-demand jobs such as:

The Tennessee Labor Education Alignment Program (LEAP) has developed an initiative that began last school year. This initiative was developed to ensure that the state is graduating skilled workers ready to take on the jobs offered by employers and industry.
